Vedic Math Trick-Without doing actual division, find the remainder on dividing a number by 9
In this blog we will learn Vedic Math Trick for finding the remainder without dividing a number by 9. Here we will adopt the method which is different from what we have learnt in our schools.
To learn the method of finding a remainder without dividing by 9, we will start by taking an example. Suppose we want to find the remainder on diving 376 by 9, simply add up the digits of 376 i.e.
3 + 7 + 6 = 16
As the answer(16) is of two digits, therefore again continue the same procedure for 16 and continue till it becomes a one digit number i.e.
1 + 6 = 7
This one digit number is the remainder after diving 376 by 9.
Another Example :
Find the remainder on 5467234 by 9.
Add the digits of 5467234, i.e. 5 + 4 + 6 + 7 + 2 +3 + 4 = 31
Again add the digits of 31 i.e. 3 + 1 = 4
Therefore , Remainder = 4
